Panguitch is a pioneer town settled in the middle of a vast valley, flanked by the Dixie National Forest and the world-famous Bryce Canyon National Park (only 24 miles away). Panguitch itself has a rich western history and charm still available today in the buildings, street fairs, rodeos, and more.
ATV trails, plentiful fishing, hiking, biking, and horseback riding are everywhere, thanks to the massive National Park lands nearby. In town you’ll find everything you need to set out on adventure, from ATV and bike rentals to groceries and fishing tackle. Visiting during one of the many annual events like a rodeo or the historic Quilt Walk is an experience you definitely won’t want to miss. The July 24th Pioneer Day celebrations are especially exciting.
The Paunsagaunt Western Wildlife Museum is just outside the National Park and serves as an educational stop-off after a visit. Tours are available to take in the many historic buildings and learn about the history of Mormon pioneers who settled there 150 years ago. And to fully experience the beauty of the area, take to the sky in a hot air balloon.
